How to Order Custom Printed Balaclavas: From Your Design to Delivery

A step-by-step guide to ordering custom printed balaclavas and ski masks: choosing the style and fabric, preparing artwork, the free digital mockup, sample options, payment, production, quality control, shipping and reorders.

From your design to a finished ski mask: printed panels are sewn into balaclavas in our Sialkot factory.

Ordering a custom ski mask for the first time raises a lot of questions: which file to send, how the mockup works, whether you need a sample, when to pay and how long it all takes. This guide walks through the whole process, step by step, as we run it as a custom sublimated balaclava manufacturer in Sialkot, Pakistan.

It is written for brands, shops, clubs, event teams and promotional companies ordering all-over printed balaclavas from 50 pieces per design. If you are still looking for a design, start with our custom balaclava design ideas; if you want to plan the budget first, read what custom printed balaclavas cost.

How do you order custom printed balaclavas?

Choose a style and fabric, send your artwork and order details, approve a free digital mockup, choose a sample route, confirm the order with a 30% advance, and we print, sew, check and ship the balaclavas. Production starts only after you approve the mockup or the sample.

The ordering steps for custom printed balaclavas; times are typical, and the schedule is confirmed for each order.

Step 1: Choose the style and fabric

Start with how the ski mask will be worn. The style decides where the design sits, and the fabric decides how warm and how bright the balaclava is.

ChoiceOptionsTip
Opening1-hole, 2-hole, 3-hole, open face, mesh eye or mesh mouth, closed printed faceAnimal and character faces often suit a mesh eye or 1-hole style
FabricPolyester/spandex stretch jersey (our main fabric), microfibre, mesh, brushed polyester, stretch velvetLight-coloured, polyester-rich fabrics take sublimation
WarmthSingle layer, fleece-lined, brushed polyester, stretch velvet or velourWarmer options suit ski and snow ranges

Our guide to balaclava face openings compares the openings, and the guide to fabrics for sublimated balaclavas compares the fabrics. If you need a thin ski mask to wear under a helmet, a single layer of polyester/spandex stretch jersey is the usual choice; for cold days on the slopes, a fleece-lined or brushed version is warmer.

Step 2: Prepare your artwork

Place your design on our free panel template, fill the bleed area and keep logos and text inside the safe zone. Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) or high-resolution images at 300 dpi at print size give the sharpest results.

The template is a guide for planning your design; the final production template is sent with your quote. Our balaclava print template guide explains the panels, the bleed and the safe zones around the eye and mouth openings. Our upload accepts PDF, AI, EPS, PNG and JPG files. A simple logo as a JPEG or PNG is usually fine; our design support team can help prepare it.

  • Rights: we print only designs you own or are licensed to use.
  • Colours: add Pantone references if you have them. Colours are matched as closely as possible and confirmed on the mockup and sample; neon and some brand colours cannot be matched exactly.
  • Views: if the front, sides and back carry different artwork, say which part goes where.
  • Fonts: convert text to outlines, or send the font with the file.

Step 3: Send your brief

Send everything in one message: the artwork, the style, the fabric, the quantity per design, the sizes, labels and packaging, your deadline and the delivery country. A complete brief gives you a faster mockup and a more accurate quote.

You can use our quote form, or start from a catalogue design: open a product in our sublimated balaclava catalogue and use its Customize tab to send your choices and artwork with the request. Either way, our team replies with questions if anything is unclear.

Step 4: Approve the free digital mockup

Send your artwork and we usually send a free digital mockup within 1–2 working days. The mockup shows your design on the balaclava, so you can check the placement, the colours and the openings before anything is printed.

Look at the eyes and mouth first, then the seams and the back of the head. Ask for any changes before you approve it; production starts only after you approve the mockup or the sample. Our help page on mockup approval explains what to check.

Step 5: Confirm the quote and choose a sample

With the mockup approved, we confirm the price for your design and quantity. Catalogue sublimated balaclavas start at about $4.99–9.50 per piece at 50 pieces, depending on style, fabric and print; prices usually fall at larger quantities, and our team confirms the price for every custom order. Then you choose one of two sample routes.

Sample routeWhenCost and approval
Pre-paid physical sampleBefore the order; about 5–7 daysPaid 100% in advance; deducted only on bulk orders of 1,000+ pieces; shipping charged separately, not refundable. You check it in your hands.
Free pre-production sampleAfter the order and the 30% advanceFree; you approve it by photos or video before bulk production.
The two sample routes for custom printed balaclavas.

A physical sample is a good idea for a new style, a new fabric or a photo-realistic face, where you want to see the stretch and the colours on a real head. For a repeat design or a simple pattern, the free pre-production sample is often enough. Our help page on sample types compares both.

Step 6: Confirm the order with the 30% advance

The order is confirmed with a 30% advance. Payment is 30/30/40: 30% to confirm the order and begin production, 30% during production after you review the work-in-progress update, and the final 40% after the goods pass quality control and are ready for shipment.

Payment is usually made by bank transfer or a money-transfer service; our help page on payment terms lists the details. Once the advance arrives, your order is scheduled for production.

Step 7: Production

Standard production takes approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time may vary depending on product type, order quantity, customization, material availability, sampling and approval requirements and the nature of the project; the confirmed schedule is agreed with you for each order.

We sublimate, cut and sew in-house. The design is usually printed as flat panels before sewing, so the print runs across the seams; the panels are then cut and sewn into balaclavas. A 7-day production is possible only on request. Our capacity is around 100,000 pieces a month, and our guide to how sublimated balaclavas are made shows each step. During production, we send a work-in-progress update before the second 30% payment.

Step 8: Quality control and packing

Every order passes our quality control before packing. We usually check the print, the colours against the approved sample, the openings, the seams and the sizes, and then add your labels and packaging.

Your brand goes on woven or printed neck labels, care labels, hang tags and polybags or retail packs; Mr Balaclava’s name never appears on your products. Our private label service covers the options. The final 40% is paid once the goods have passed quality control and are ready for shipment.

Step 9: Shipping and delivery

Shipping is charged by weight, agreed for each order and confirmed before shipment. Express courier shipping usually takes 3–6 working days; larger orders can travel by air or sea cargo.

Balaclavas are light, so even a few hundred pieces usually travel by express courier. Our help page on shipping costs explains how weight-based shipping works. Ask about duties and import charges for your country with the quote, so the full cost is clear before you order.

How long does the whole process take?

A typical first order takes the time for the mockup (usually 1–2 working days), the sample if you choose a pre-paid one (about 5–7 days plus shipping), production (approximately 14 days after sample approval) and shipping (express usually 3–6 working days). We confirm the schedule for every order instead of promising a date.

Seasonal ranges need more planning. For winter, ski and Halloween collections, start the mockup and sample early, so there is time for changes before the season. Repeat orders of an approved design are usually quicker, because the mockup and the sample are already done.

Catalogue design or your own artwork?

Both work. You can order a catalogue design with your own labels, change the colours of a catalogue design, or send a completely new artwork. The minimum is 50 pieces per design in every case, and each design or colourway counts on its own.

A catalogue design is the quickest start, because the artwork already fits the panels. Your own artwork gives you a design that is yours alone. For a real example of a custom order, see our streetwear camo balaclava project.

Common mistakes when ordering custom ski masks

  • Artwork that stops at the edge. Without a full bleed, white lines can show at the seams.
  • Text across seams or openings. Keep words on the forehead, the sides or the back.
  • A black base fabric. Sublimation needs a light base; dark designs are printed as ink.
  • Mixing designs in one quantity. The minimum is 50 pieces per design, not per order.
  • No size split. Say how many adult and kids pieces you need for each design.
  • A tight deadline. Leave time for the mockup, the sample and shipping.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for a custom ski mask?

The minimum is 50 pieces per design. Each design or colourway counts on its own, so two designs means at least 100 pieces.

Do I have to pay for the mockup?

No. The digital mockup is free, and we usually send it within 1–2 working days after we receive your artwork.

Can I see a sample before the bulk order?

Yes. A pre-paid physical sample takes about 5–7 days and is paid 100% in advance; or you can choose a free pre-production sample after the order and the 30% advance, approved by photos or video.

What if something arrives defective?

Custom orders cannot be returned, but if a piece is defective, damaged or not made as ordered, we replace it. Please report it within 20 days.

Can I reorder the same design later?

Yes. When the design is unchanged, the mockup and sample steps are usually already done, so we confirm the quantity, from 50 pieces per design, and the schedule with the quote.
