Buyer's guide

What is a slouchy beanie?

A slouchy beanie has more length in the crown than the head needs, so the top falls back and folds loosely. The drape depends on the yarn and the gauge: fine jersey and cotton fall softly, while chunky rib keeps more volume.

Slouchy beanies are a fashion shape rather than a cold-weather one, so they are often made in lighter yarns and worn across three seasons. Oversized beanies are also wider and looser all round, and high top beanies stand up instead of falling back.

High top beanies

What is a high top beanie?

A high top beanie is a cuffed beanie with extra fabric in the crown, so the top stands up or folds into a point. It is sometimes called a peaked or tall beanie, and the extra height is what gives it its streetwear look.

The crown height is set in the pattern, so the same style can be made subtle or dramatic. Rib at 7GG is the standard: it holds the tall shape and keeps its stretch, and the logo goes on the cuff, where it stays visible however the crown is worn.

FAQ

Streetwear beanies: frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for streetwear beanies?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design. Larger runs are made on the same lines, with a monthly capacity of around 100,000 pieces.

How is a slouchy beanie different from an oversized beanie?

The names overlap. A slouchy beanie has extra length that drapes at the back; an oversized beanie is also wider and looser all round. We can make either, or anything between, to your measurements.

How tall is a high top beanie?

Taller than a classic cuffed beanie, with enough extra crown to stand up or fold into a point. We set the exact height in the pattern and confirm it in the sample.

Which knit suits a high top beanie?

Rib at 7GG is the standard: it holds the tall shape and keeps its stretch. A 5GG rib gives a chunkier look.

Can slouchy beanies carry a logo?

Yes. Most brands use a small woven label at the back or side, or tonal embroidery on the front, so the logo does not fight with the drape.

How long does streetwear beanie production take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time depends on the product, quantity, customization and material availability, and the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order. Express shipping by DHL, FedEx or UPS then takes 3–6 working days.
