Buyer's guide

Why bucket hats sell

A bucket hat is easy to wear and easy to brand. The crown and brim give plenty of room for all-over prints, and the hat folds flat, so it packs and ships well. It works for sun protection, festivals, fishing and outdoor work, and as a streetwear staple.

The brim width and the fabric decide the use. A wide brim shades the neck, while a short brim keeps a fashion look. Cotton twill and canvas suit everyday and promotional hats; nylon and polyester dry quickly for outdoor use; terry and fleece suit beach and cold weather. Reversible bucket hats sew two fabrics into one hat.

Boonie hats

Boonie hats for outdoor ranges

A boonie hat has a wider, flatter brim than a bucket hat, a band around the crown and usually a chin cord, so it stays on in wind and shades the face and neck. It is the hat of hiking, fishing, festivals and field work, made in cotton ripstop, cotton twill or quick-drying nylon, with eyelets or mesh vents for air.

Hi-vis safari hats

Hi-vis safari hats for workwear

A hi-vis safari hat gives outdoor workers shade and visibility in one piece: fluorescent yellow or orange fabric, a reflective tape band around the crown, mesh vents and a chin cord. It is ordered by road crews, construction, utilities and event staff. We do not claim a safety standard; if your market requires one, the hat can be tested by a third-party lab against your specification.

FAQ

Bucket and boonie hats: frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for bucket and boonie hats?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design.

Can you make reversible bucket hats?

Yes. A reversible hat uses two fabrics or prints sewn together, with the seam finished so both sides look clean. We confirm the pairing on the sample.

Can you print all over a bucket hat?

Yes. Sublimation on polyester and screen printing on cotton panels can cover the whole crown and brim. We keep the print within the panel and seam limits.

What is the difference between a boonie and a bucket hat?

A boonie has a wider, flatter brim, a crown band and usually a chin cord, so it suits outdoor use. A bucket hat has a shorter, sloping brim and a softer, more casual look.

Is the hi-vis safari hat certified to a safety standard?

We do not claim any safety standard. If you need one for your market, tell us the standard; the hat can be tested by a third-party lab against your specification.

How long does production of bucket and boonie hats take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time depends on the product, quantity, customization and material availability, and the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order. Express shipping by DHL, FedEx or UPS then takes 3–6 working days.
