Buyer's guide

What makes a good custom bandana?

A bandana is only as good as its fabric and its print. Cotton is the classic choice: soft, absorbent and with a vintage look when screen-printed. Polyester microfibre is lighter, dries faster and takes all-over sublimation prints, so it suits sports and outdoor bandanas.

The traditional paisley bandana is screen-printed on dyed cotton; discharge printing removes the dye to print light designs on dark fabric with a soft feel.

A bandana is not the same as a neckerchief: a bandana is a larger, casual square, usually in cotton, while a neckerchief is smaller and neater, usually in polyester twill or silk, and is the usual choice for uniforms. See our neckerchiefs.

Logo bandanas

Bandanas with your logo

A logo bandana is one of the most useful pieces of merchandise: your logo in the centre, in the border or repeated all over, printed in your brand colours. Cotton suits screen-printed logos in a few colours; polyester takes full-colour sublimation for photos and gradients.

We make adult, kids and pet sizes from the same artwork, and fold, bag and label each bandana for retail or events.

Kids and pet bandanas

Bandanas for kids and pets

Kids and pet bandanas use the same fabrics and prints in smaller sizes. A 51 × 51 cm (20 in) square is a common starting point for children, and pet bandanas are often cut as triangles in sizes set to your range.

We can make adult, kids and pet sizes from the same artwork in one order; the minimum of 50 pieces applies per design.

FAQ

Bandanas: frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for bandanas?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design. Larger runs are made on the same lines, with a monthly capacity of around 100,000 pieces.

Which fabric is best for bandanas?

Cotton is the classic choice because it is soft and absorbent and looks right with screen prints. Polyester microfibre is lighter, dries faster and suits sublimated sports bandanas.

What sizes do bandanas come in?

The most common sizes are 20, 22 and 27 inch squares (about 51, 56 and 69 cm). We make any size you specify.

What is discharge printing?

Discharge printing removes the dye from dark cotton where the design is printed, leaving a soft, light print with no heavy ink on the surface. It gives the classic vintage bandana look.

What is the difference between a bandana and a neckerchief?

A bandana is a square, usually printed cotton, worn many ways. A neckerchief is a smaller, neater scarf tied at the neck, often in polyester twill or silk, and is the usual choice for uniforms.

How long does bandana production take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time depends on the product, quantity, customization and material availability, and the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order. Express shipping by DHL, FedEx or UPS then takes 3–6 working days.
