Buyer's guide

How to specify a baseball cap

The baseball cap is the reference for all structured headwear. Its six panels and front buckram give a firm, rounded crown, and the curved peak shades the eyes. Profile and structure are the main decisions: a mid-profile structured crown suits promotional and team caps, while a low-profile unstructured crown gives the relaxed look of a dad cap.

Fabric and closure set the price and the feel. Cotton twill is the standard, brushed cotton is softer, and polyester or nylon suits sport and performance ranges. Buckle and slide straps look premium, while Velcro and snap closures keep costs down. We confirm each choice on a sample before bulk production.

Six-panel caps

Six-panel caps: the base for most cap designs

The six-panel crown is the base for most cap designs, including the baseball cap, dad cap, snapback and fitted cap. Two front panels meet at a centre seam, which gives a rounded, familiar shape. Because the seam runs through the logo area, embroidery is digitised around it so the logo stays straight.

Choose a six-panel cap when you want a classic, versatile shape that works for a whole range: change the fabric, closure and structure and the same pattern becomes a sport cap, a uniform cap or a fashion cap.

FAQ

Baseball caps: frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for baseball caps?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design.

What is the difference between a baseball cap and a dad cap?

A baseball cap usually has a structured crown, while a dad cap has an unstructured, lower crown that feels softer and sits closer to the head. Both are made from the same panels and can carry the same branding.

Can you embroider on the side and back of the cap?

Yes. We can embroider the front, both sides and the back, and add a small logo above the closure. We check the artwork size and stitch count against the panel before sampling.

Which fabric should I choose for a baseball cap?

Cotton twill is the standard for everyday and promotional caps. Choose polyester or nylon for sport and quick-drying ranges, and brushed cotton or canvas for a soft, washed look.

Is a six-panel cap the same as a baseball cap?

A baseball cap is a type of six-panel cap. The term six-panel describes how the crown is built, while baseball cap describes the classic structured style with a curved peak.

How long does production of baseball caps take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time depends on the product, quantity, customization and material availability, and the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order. Express shipping by DHL, FedEx or UPS then takes 3–6 working days.
