Acrylic Knits & Yarns
Acrylic is a synthetic fibre spun into soft, wool-like yarn. It is the usual choice for knitted beanies, scarves and knitted balaclavas: light, warm, easy to wash and usually made in a wide range of colours. Blended with wool, it gains warmth and a more natural hand.

Acrylic knits
Acrylic knits we work with
Acrylic products are knitted to shape from yarn, so the stitch, gauge and yarn thickness matter as much as the fibre. Open a fabric to see what is typical for it and what we confirm for your order.

Knitted headwear
What to specify for a knitted product
Knitted beanies and scarves are described by how they are knitted, not by fabric weight.
-
Stitch
Rib stitches (1×1, 2×2) stretch and grip the head; cable and jersey stitches are flatter and more decorative.
-
Gauge and yarn
A finer gauge with thinner yarn gives a smooth, light knit; a coarse gauge with chunky yarn gives a thick, warm one.
-
Single or double layer
A folded cuff or a double-layer body adds warmth where it matters without changing the yarn.
-
Branding
Knitted-in jacquard logos, embroidery on the cuff, and woven or leather-style patches suit knits. Flat printing does not.

FAQ
Acrylic knits: frequently asked questions
Acrylic or wool for a beanie?
Acrylic is lighter, cheaper, machine-washable and comes in more colours. Wool is warmer for its weight and handles moisture better. An acrylic/wool blend sits in between.
Does acrylic pill?
Acrylic yarn can pill with friction. Tighter knits, better yarn quality and anti-pilling yarns reduce it; tell us if the product will see heavy wear.
Can my logo be knitted in?
Knitted-in (jacquard) logos are made during knitting, so the design, colours and size are agreed on the sample before production.
