How does sampling work?
Short answer
You choose between a free pre-production sample, which we make after you order and you approve on photos, videos or a video call, and a pre-paid physical sample, which we ship to your door before production. Bulk production goes ahead only after you approve the sample.
A sample lets you check the fabric, the fit, the colours and your branding before bulk production. There are two kinds: a free pre-production sample and a pre-paid (physical) sample. See Which sample do I need?
Before any sample
- Brief and quote: you send your idea, quantities and deadline, and choose the sample in step 1 of the Request a quote form.
- Mockup: our design team draws your product in your colours, with your logo and labels, usually in 1–3 business days.
- Tech pack: we write the specification (measurements, materials, colours, branding, labels and packing), usually in 3 to 5 business days, and you sign it off. The sample and the bulk order are built to it.
With a pre-production sample (free)
- You place your order and pay the 30% advance.
- We make the sample on the same machines and with the same materials as bulk production.
- We send you photos and videos, or show you the sample on a video call.
- You approve it or tell us what to change.
- Bulk production continues after your approval.
With a pre-paid (physical) sample
- The sample is its own line on your quotation. Pre-paid (physical) samples require 100% payment in advance; pre-production samples are free.
- We make it in about 5–7 days after you sign off the tech pack, on the same machines and with the same materials as bulk production.
- We ship it to your door with a copy of the tech pack. Shipping is charged separately.
- You check it in your hands and approve it or tell us what to change.
- Bulk production starts only after the sample is approved and the order is confirmed.
Follow your sample in My Account
With a customer account, your order in My Account shows the stage Sample ready for your approval. When we add sample photos for your approval, we email you, and you click Approve or Ask for changes. You can also reply by email or WhatsApp.
Orders from the Order Builder
If you order with the Order Builder and want a pre-paid (physical) sample first, choose Get a quotation in the builder and tell us.
What to check on your sample
- Fabric feel, weight and colour
- Fit and measurements, compared with the tech pack
- Embroidery or print: position, size and colours
- Labels, tags and packaging
- Stitching and finishing
After approval
Most designs are approved after one sample. The approved sample and the tech pack stay with us as the reference for inspection and for reorders. If changes are needed, see What if the sample needs changes?
For stock styles from our B2B Collection and for reorders of designs you have already approved, you usually do not need a pre-paid sample. Samples do not count towards the minimum order quantity.
