How Mr Balaclava Works: Custom Ski Masks and Headwear, From Brief to Delivery

Who Mr Balaclava is, what we make, how products are made and what happens between your brief and delivery, in plain terms.

Mr Balaclava is a branded ski mask manufacturer: we make custom balaclavas, also called ski masks, and other headwear that carry your brand. Our buyers are brands launching a product line, shops building their own range, clubs and teams, and companies ordering for events and promotions. We work only business to business, so every order carries your brand, not ours.

This page explains how we work in plain terms: what we make, how products are made, which ways of working suit which buyers, and what happens between your first message and delivery. If you are still choosing a style, start with our guide to the different types of balaclavas.

Who is Mr Balaclava?

Mr Balaclava is a manufacturer based in Sialkot, Pakistan, powered by Eco Jersey Limited, which is ISO 9001 certified and a Sedex member.

Sialkot is one of the textile and sportswear centres of Pakistan, with knitting, sewing, printing and finishing close together. Our team works with buyers by email, chat and video call, and our website, catalogue and quotation copies are available in English, French, German and Spanish.

What does Mr Balaclava make?

Balaclavas are our core product, made in every style to order: one-hole, two-hole, three-hole and open face, hinged and convertible, hooded and ninja-style, with a hair opening, faux fur, novelty and printed designs, plus neck gaiters. Around them we make beanies, caps and hats, scarves, socks and ski wear.

  • Custom balaclavas: every style, knitted or cut-and-sew, in acrylic, wool and merino, cotton, fleece, stretch jersey, mesh and more.
  • Our other products: beanies, caps and hats, scarves, socks and ski wear, made with the same process and minimums.
  • The B2B Collection: developed catalogue styles you can order in your colours and branding.

How are the products made?

Knitted products are made on flat knitting machines in our own factory, and cut-and-sew products are cut and sewn in-house. Jacquard knitting, where a pattern or logo is knitted into the fabric, and circular knitting are done with partner mills we work with closely.

The two methods suit different products: knits suit winter retail and streetwear, cut-and-sew stretch fabrics suit helmets, sport and all-over prints. Our article on knitted vs cut-and-sew balaclavas explains both step by step, and the manufacturing process page shows the stages for every product.

For branding we offer sublimation, screen printing, flat and 3D embroidery, patches, DTF and heat transfer, jacquard knit-in, woven and printed labels, hang tags and packaging. Which method works depends on the fabric; see balaclava logo and decoration methods and our customization and branding page. We only print designs you own or are licensed to use.

Which way of working suits you?

There are four common ways to work with us. They differ in how much you specify and how much you start from our developed styles.

Way of workingWhat it meansUsually suits
Private labelMade to your specification: fabric, shape, colours, artwork, labels and packagingBrands with their own design or tech pack
White labelOne of our developed styles in your colours, with your logo, labels and packagingBrands and shops testing a new category quickly
OEM and ODMOEM: we make your existing design; ODM: we develop the style from your briefBrands that need development support
Wholesale and small runsCatalogue or custom styles in volume, or a first run of 50 pieces per design to test the marketShops, clubs, event companies and new brands

What happens from brief to delivery?

Every order follows the same steps. You see your design twice before bulk production: on a real-size mockup and on a sample.

StepWhat happensTime
Brief and quoteYou send the style, fabric, colours, artwork, quantity and date; we confirm the price and scheduleAgreed for each brief
MockupWe place your artwork on the product at real size for your approvalBefore sampling
SampleA pre-paid physical sample, or a free pre-production sample made after the orderAbout 5–7 days for a physical sample
OrderYou confirm the order with the 30% advance paymentWhen the advance is paid
ProductionKnitting or cutting and sewing, decoration and finishing; 30% is paid after you review the work-in-progress updateApproximately 14 days after sample approval
Quality controlInspection and packing; the remaining 40% is paid when the goods are ready to shipBefore dispatch
ShippingExpress by DHL, FedEx or UPS, or air and sea freight for large orders3–6 working days by express
The confirmed schedule is agreed for each order.

The two sample types work differently. A pre-paid physical sample is paid 100% in advance, takes about 5–7 days and is deducted from the order only when the order is 1,000 pieces or more; its shipping is charged separately and is not refundable. A free pre-production sample is made after the order and the 30% advance payment and approved by photos, videos or a video call. Our Help Center explains which sample to choose.

Shipping method, cost and delivery terms are agreed with you for each order and confirmed before shipment. An online shipping estimate is a guide, not the final cost.

How many pieces, how fast?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design. A design is one style in one colourway with one artwork, so a range of three designs starts at 150 pieces.

  • Standard production lead time: approximately 14 days after sample approval.
  • Faster production: 7 days is possible on request.
  • Complex products or very large orders (100,000–200,000 pieces): up to one month.
  • Capacity: around 100,000 pieces a month.

Unit prices fall as quantities rise, and your quote confirms the price for your order. Repeat orders of an approved design need no new sample.

How is quality checked?

Quality is checked on the sample before production and again before dispatch, when finished goods are inspected and packed. Our quality control page describes the checks.

Fabrics from OEKO-TEX® certified mills are available on request; the certificate is the mill’s. Because every order is custom, we do not accept returns, but if goods are defective or not as ordered, report it within 20 days and we replace them.

How do you start an order?

Send us a brief by the quote form, chat or email. If you are not sure about some details, say so: they are settled with the quote and checked on the sample.

What to send with your request

  • The product and style, or a catalogue style to start from.
  • Fabric or use (cold weather, sport, under a helmet, fashion), and colours.
  • Your logo or artwork, and where it should go.
  • Sizes: adult, kids or your own size chart.
  • Quantity per design, labels and packaging, and the date you need the goods.

Mr Balaclava’s name never appears on your products. Your brand goes on the labels, the hang tags and the packaging.
