How to put your logo on a beanie: the main branding methods, where each one works best, what artwork to send and how the order is approved.

A beanie is one of the most visible places for a logo: it sits at eye level, it is worn all winter and it costs little enough to give away or sell in volume. The branding method decides how the logo looks, how long it lasts and how the beanie is priced.

This guide compares the methods we use most, explains where each works best and lists what to send with your request. You can see branded styles on our cuffed and logo beanies page.

What are the ways to put a logo on a beanie?

Where does the logo go on a beanie?

The front of the cuff is the classic place: it faces forward, sits flat and stays visible however the beanie is worn. On beanies without a cuff, the logo sits on the front of the crown, above the forehead.

A second, smaller placement is common on retail beanies: a woven label on the side or the back, or a small embroidered logo next to the main one. Our design team sends a mockup of each logo and label placement, and every detail is confirmed in a tech pack before sampling.

Embroidery or woven label: which is better?

Embroidery gives a raised logo with texture and is the usual choice for merchandise, team and promotional beanies. A woven label gives a cleaner, more discreet finish that suits retail basics and fashion brands, and keeps small text sharp.

3D embroidery lifts simple, bold logos off the knit; very fine lines and small text are better as flat embroidery or a woven label. On chunky knits the deep stitches can break up fine embroidery, so a label or a patch keeps the logo clean.

When should the logo be knitted in?

Choose knitted jacquard when the logo is large, when it is a slogan or pattern that runs around the beanie, or when the design should be part of the fabric. The logo is knitted with dyed yarn, so there is nothing to crack, peel or fade.

Finer gauges such as 9GG and 12GG show small logos and text more sharply than chunky gauges. For full patterns, fair isle and stripes, see our jacquard and graphic beanies.

What artwork should you send?

Vector artwork (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) is the best starting point; a high-resolution PNG also works. Send the colours as Pantone references if you have them, so that yarn, thread and label colours can be matched.

You supply the logo and confirm that you may use it; we only produce designs whose owner has approved them. Very fine detail is simplified to suit embroidery or knit, and you approve the result on the mockup and the sample.

What to send with your request

  • Your logo as vector artwork and the colours you need.
  • The beanie style, or a reference beanie or photo.
  • Branding method and placement, for example embroidery on the front of the cuff.
  • Quantity per design and the date you need the beanies.
  • Labels, hang tags, barcodes and packing.

What is the minimum order for logo beanies?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design, so small brands, clubs and companies can start with one design. Larger runs are made on the same lines, with a monthly capacity of around 100,000 pieces.

How long does a logo beanie order take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Seven days is possible on request, and complex products or very large orders (100,000–200,000 pieces) can take up to one month; the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order.

  • Artwork and quote: send your logo, style, quantity and date.
  • Sample: a pre-paid physical sample made in about 5–7 days, or a free pre-production sample made after the order and the 30 % advance payment and approved by photos, videos or a video call.
  • Production: approximately 14 days after sample approval.
  • Shipping: express by DHL, FedEx or UPS in 3–6 working days, or air and sea freight for large orders.

Frequently asked questions

Can one beanie carry two branding methods?

Yes. A common combination is embroidery on the front of the cuff and a woven label on the side or the back.

Can one order include several logos or colours?

Yes. Each design needs at least 50 pieces, so a brand can order several colourways or logos together, each from 50 pieces.

Will my beanies carry your name?

No. Mr Balaclava’s name never appears on your products.
