Buyer's guide

What makes a beanie lower-impact?

For a knitted beanie, the yarn is the biggest choice. Recycled polyester is spun from used plastic, usually bottles, and knits and performs like new polyester; recycled wool reuses fibre from old garments; organic cotton is grown to organic farming standards.

Every claim has to be documented: we state the recycled share or the organic status only when the spinner certifies it for your order, and we send the certificates with the quote.

Claims

How yarn claims are documented

We do not certify yarns ourselves. The recycled share, and any GRS, RCS or GOTS claim, comes from the spinner’s certificate for the yarn used in your order, and we send it with the quote. If your market needs product testing, third-party lab tests can be arranged on request.

FAQ

Recycled and organic beanies: frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for recycled beanies?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design. Larger runs are made on the same lines, with a monthly capacity of around 100,000 pieces.

Is the recycled content certified?

The recycled share is documented with the spinner’s certificate, for example GRS or RCS, for the yarn used in your order. We do not certify yarns ourselves.

Can every beanie style be made in recycled yarn?

Most can. Recycled polyester suits fine sports knits, recycled wool suits warm winter styles; we suggest the best yarn for your style in the quote.

Do recycled and organic yarns cost more?

Usually a little. The Order Builder shows the extra per piece for each yarn, and the quote confirms it.

Which yarn is best for a baby beanie?

Organic cotton: it is soft and breathable, and the organic claim is documented with the spinner’s certificate.

How long does recycled beanie production take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time depends on the product, quantity, customization and material availability, and the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order. Express shipping by DHL, FedEx or UPS then takes 3–6 working days.
