Buyer's guide

Embroidery or a leather patch?

Embroidery gives a raised, textured logo that suits company merchandise, teams and promotions, and it works on most knits. A leather-look patch gives a premium, outdoor or streetwear look and keeps a detailed logo clean on chunky knits, where deep stitches can break up fine embroidery.

Both sit on the front of the cuff, where the logo faces forward and stays visible. We show you a mockup of each option before sampling, and you approve the sample before production.

Leather-look and rubber patches on chunky and fisherman beanies for drops.

  • Company merchandise

Embroidered logos on cuffed beanies for staff, events and gifts.

  • Outdoor brands

Debossed patches on wide-cuff and watch cap beanies in natural colours.

  • Uniforms and hospitality

Small embroidered logos on fine-rib beanies that match a uniform.

How we embroider a knitted beanie

A knit stretches, so embroidery on a beanie needs the right backing, density and stitch length to stay flat. We digitise your logo for the knit, use a fine rib where small text has to stay sharp, and test the logo on the sample before production.

3D (puff) embroidery lifts bold, simple logos off the cuff; flat embroidery suits detailed logos and small text.

Patches

Which patch suits your beanie?

Patches are cut, debossed, engraved or moulded with your logo and sewn onto the cuff on all sides, so they stay flat and do not peel.

FAQ

Embroidered and patch beanies: frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for embroidered and patch beanies?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design. Larger runs are made on the same lines, with a monthly capacity of around 100,000 pieces.

Can you embroider on a chunky knit?

Yes, but deep stitches can break up fine detail. For detailed logos on chunky knits we recommend a leather-look or woven patch; bold, simple logos embroider well on any knit.

Is the leather patch real leather?

Our standard patch is leather-look PU. Genuine leather is available on request and costs more; we quote both so you can compare.

What artwork do you need?

Vector artwork (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) is best; a high-resolution PNG also works. Send your colours as Pantone references if you have them.

Is there a set-up cost?

Yes, a one-off cost per logo: digitising for embroidery, a die or mould for patches. It is shown in the Order Builder and on the quote, and reorders of the same logo do not pay it again.

How long does patch beanie production take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time depends on the product, quantity, customization and material availability, and the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order. Express shipping by DHL, FedEx or UPS then takes 3–6 working days.
