Buyer's guide

When softshell is the right choice

Softshell moves with the body and breathes far better than a waterproof shell, so it is ideal for high-output skiing, ski touring and spring days, and as a mid-layer under a shell on cold days. It resists wind and light snow, but it is not fully waterproof unless it has a membrane and taped seams.

Softshell is also the favourite fabric for team, club and staff jackets: comfortable, smart and easy to embroider. For fully waterproof outerwear, see our ski jackets; for the fabric itself, see performance fabrics.

FAQ

Softshell: frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for softshell jackets?

The minimum order is 50 pieces per design.

Is softshell waterproof?

Softshell resists wind and light snow and stays breathable, but it is not fully waterproof unless it has a membrane and taped seams. We can make that version on request.

What is the difference between softshell and hardshell?

A hardshell is a fully waterproof laminate with taped seams. A softshell is stretchy, breathable and wind-resistant, and is chosen for comfort and movement rather than full waterproofing.

Can you embroider names on team softshells?

Yes. Names can be embroidered or heat-transferred; send a name list with the order.

Can softshell jackets and pants be ordered as a set?

Yes. Softshell jackets and pants can be cut from the same fabric lot so the colours match, and sold separately or as a set.

How long does softshell production take?

Standard production lead time is approximately 14 days after sample approval. Actual lead time depends on the product, quantity, customization and material availability, and the confirmed schedule is agreed for each order. Express shipping by DHL, FedEx or UPS then takes 3–6 working days.
