By the Mr Balaclava team · Updated 2026-10-06 Short answer Yes. We develop new products from your brief, sketch or reference product, and we rework existing products from your tech pack. You approve a mockup, a tech pack and a sample (pre-production on photos or video, or a pre-paid physical sample) before bulk production starts. Yes. You can come to us with an idea, a sketch or a product you want to make better. We develop it with you step by step, and nothing goes into bulk production until you approve the sample. ## A new product (ODM) You bring the brief, and our design team develops the product with you through a mockup, a tech pack and a sample. This suits new brands and new categories without in-house design. ## Your existing product (OEM) Send us your existing tech pack as it is, or a reference product. Tell us what should change: the fabric, the fit, the construction or the branding. We check the tech pack, suggest fabrics and trims, and make a sample. ## How development works 1. Send your brief: sketches, references, logo, quantities, markets and deadline. 2. We suggest fabrics and trims with the quote. You can also choose from our [Material Library](/materials/) or send your own fabric reference (name, composition, GSM and a photo). 3. Our design team draws a digital mockup and writes the tech pack. 4. We make a sample on the same machines and with the same materials as bulk production. A pre-paid physical sample is made before your order, in about 5–7 days, and shipped to you. A free pre-production sample is made after you order and pay the 30% advance. See [Which sample do I need?](/help/sample-types/) 5. Changes are written into the tech pack. We make a second sample only if the changes affect construction. 6. You approve the sample, in your hands or on photos, videos or a video call. The sample and the tech pack then become the reference for bulk production and for reorders. Most designs are approved after one sample. For sized products, we approve a base size and then grade the other sizes; we can also work from your own size table. ## Confidential Designs are not shown to or produced for other customers, and we sign an NDA on request.
