In sublimation, the design is printed with special dye onto transfer paper and then pressed onto polyester fabric with heat. The heat turns the dye into a gas that enters the polyester fibres, so the colour becomes part of the fabric instead of a layer on top. The print keeps the stretch and soft feel of the fabric, and it usually does not crack or peel. Because the dye is see-through, sublimation needs a white or light base: a black or dark fabric cannot be sublimated. A "black" sublimated balaclava is light fabric with the black printed as ink. Sublimation works on polyester-rich fabrics, so every fabric below is polyester-based. Polyester/spandex stretch jersey is our main fabric: it fits close, recovers its shape and shows bright, sharp colour. For colder weather, choose a warmer fabric or a lining. Printing and sewing both happen in-house in Sialkot, so one team follows your design from the file to the packed piece. 1. **Artwork on the template** Your design is placed on the panel template for your style and size, with bleed and safe zones around the openings. 2. **Print on transfer paper** The design is printed in reverse with sublimation dye onto transfer paper. 3. **Heat transfer** Heat and pressure move the dye from the paper into the polyester. Usually the flat panels are printed before sewing. 4. **Cut and sew** The printed panels are cut and sewn, so in most cases the design runs across the seams.
